Research Presentation

This past week, I both presented my research speech and got the opportunity to listen to many of my fellow peers' speeches as well. Before making my research speech, I had to synthesize all my prior research done this year. Going over all my research and analyzing its relation to my future research and original work helped remind me of the knowledge I had gained. Moreover listening to other academic presentations taught me how to improve on my own speaking and how to improve on my own research. I presented all the technical information I had gathered through my research assessments, the real life applicable information I had gathered through my different interviews, and then the original work specific research I had done through a marketing textbook. After presenting, I realized that while my content was great and my visual aid was great and supportive, I could greatly improve on limiting the number of filler words I use. I tend to say "uh" and "like" quite a bit. Getting rid of or reducing these filler words would enhance the delivery of my future presentations. Finally, learning about a diverse set of fields such as corporate law, cardiothoracic medicine, and on-field sports reporting was extremely interesting.
